Abstract
Goal: Spexin is a new peptide that plays a role in regulating the behavior of nutrition, weight, energy metabolism and fatty acid harvesting into fat cells. The aim of this study was to compare the two types of Pilates and TRX exercise on serum spexin levels in overweight women. Materials and methods: this was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design. For this purpose , 30overweight female data subjects aged 25-30years and their BMI above 25kg/m2 were randomly selected and divided into 3groups of 10, Pilates (experimental1), TRX (experimental2) and control. The experimental group 1 exercise included Pilates50-70% of maximum heart rate for 8 weeks, 3 sessions per week, 60 minutes per session, and experimental group2 to TRX training with intensity of50-70% 1RM (one repetition maximum) for 8 weeks and 3 sessions per a week and 60 minutes per session, which matched these two exercise in term of calorie burning and hear rate. The control group did not exercise during this period. 24 hours before the firs training session and 48 hours after the last session, sampling was was performed and anthropometric measurements including height, weight, WHR and BMI (body mass index) and blood samples were taken to assess the biomedical factors of spexin, insulin, insulin resistance, fasting glucose and fasting insulin. In order to analyze the data, SPSS version 26 was used in two parts: descriptive and inferential statistics. Paired t-test and mixed anova were used to analyze the data and bonferroni post hoc test was used analyze the differences between the groups . Results: The results showed that serum spexin and body composition levels decreased significantly in experimental groups 1and2(p<0.05 ). Blood glucose decreased significantly in experimental group1 (P<0.05). Insulin and insulin resistance index significantly increased in experimental group 1 and 2 and control group (P<0.05). Blood glucose increased significantly in experimental group 2 (P<0.05). Conclusion: According the result of this study, it can be stated with caution that Pilates and TRX training can both reduce spexin levels in inactive obese women and this can be used as a factor for weight loss and BMI reduction in this people.
