Comparison of nutritional behaviors, lifestyle and body mass index in athletic and non-athletic students of Sampad and normal schools

Abstract
Background and purpose: healthy nutrition in teenage girls plays an important role in their physical and
physical development. Active lifestyle is also one of the things that has a significant impact on people's body
mass index. The general purpose of this study was to compare nutritional behaviors, lifestyle and body mass
index in athletic and non-athletic students of Sampad and normal schools
Materials and methods: In this applied research, 475 female students of the first secondary school of
Sampad and Normal schools of Ahvaz district 4 participated and an electronic questionnaire was provided to
them, which included 53 lifestyle and nutrition questions along with age and height. and weight (to check
body mass index), and individual information answered. The questions of this questionnaire were based on
Miller and Smith's lifestyle questionnaire and eating behavior questionnaire.
Findings: According to the research hypotheses, the research findings showed that there is a significant
difference in the nutritional behaviors of the athletic students of Sampad and normal schools and in the nonathletic students of Sampad and normal schools. Here, normal school students have obtained a higher rank,
which indicates unhealthy eating behavior among them Also, a significant difference was observed in the
lifestyle of the athletic students of Sampad and normal schools and in the non-athletic students of Sampad
and normal schools, the students of Sampad schools had a higher rank. This result showed that the students of
Sampad had a more unhealthy lifestyle than normal students. In the variable of body mass index, a significant
difference was observed between the athletic students of Sampad and normal schools and between the nonathletic students of Sampad and normal schools. The highest average was observed in non-athlete students.
Conclusion: According to the obtained results, it can be said that the type of school has an effect on the
eating behavior of teenagers, and it is also possible to understand the important role of physical activity and
exercise on the body mass index of teenagers. Therefore, identifying eating disorders in students and teaching
healthy lifestyle behaviors can be effective in improving the health of adolescents
