Abstract
The background of the study
Glutamine supplement is one of the most widely used sports supplements in the world that is used by many athletes. Glutamine is an amino acid that is used in the biosynthesis of protein. It is side chain is similar to that of Glutamic acid, except the carboxylic acid group is replaced by an amide. It is non-essential and conditionally essential in human, meaning the body can usually synthesize sufficient amounts of it, but in some instances of stress, the body's demand for Glutamine increases.
The purpose of the research
The purpose of the research is finding effect of Glutamine on three important factors (anaerobic capacity, fatigue, BMI) in volleyball players. these factors have good act on performances volleyball players then we must know about effect of Glutamine on that. Should we use it? Or not ?
Methods
In the present study, 20 professional volleyball players of Kermanshah province present in Sepidar team who are present in the national volleyball league with an average age between 20 to 25 years and at least 6 years of training experience in two groups of 10 people control (placebo) and experimental , The glutamine group was given 0.1 grams of glutamine supplement per body weight
for eight weeks.
Body mass index was measured by BMI test and fatigue and anaerobic capacity of
Statistical method
the subjects were measured by RAST test before and after the test. The results were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (MANCOVA and independent t) by SPSS 24 software (p= 0.005)
Result
The results showed a positive and significant effect of GLUTAMINE consumption on body mass index (P = 0.001), anaerobic power (P = 0.001) and fatigue (P = 0.001).
