Abstract
Abstract:
Background and Aims :
Obesity and weight gain are considered as an epidemic in societies and are increasing. People who are obese and overweight suffer from fatty liver and increased levels of liver enzymes. To date, weight loss is the only definitive treatment for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Losing weight and maintaining it is difficult ; Therefore, exercise and physical activity can potentially be effective in reducing liver fat. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of a Swedish massage course on anthropometric indicators in inactive overweight women
Materials & Methods:
The statistical
data of the present research consisted of 16 inactive overweight women who were divided into 2 groups of 8 including Swedish massage and the control group. The training protocol of the Swedish massage test group was held for 8 weeks and three sessions were held every week. Anthropometric indices (WHR and BMI) were measured before and after 8 weeks of Swedish massage.
Results:
In the post-test stage, no significant difference was observed between the Swedish massage and the control group in the level of WHR (p=0.099) and BMI (p=0.096), but it caused a significant decrease in them.
Conclusion:
Therefore, from the reduction of these variables in the present study, it can be concluded that it seems that Swedish massage with high intensity, like sports exercises, can be an effective step in controlling and reducing fatty liver, overweight and obesity and achieving health.
