Abstract
Background: Today, research is emphasized as a tool for solving problems in organizations. For the research development of any sports organization, it is necessary to benefit from a model that fits the economic, cultural, social and political conditions of the same field. Despite karate being considered one of the most popular sports in the country, however, there is a gap in research needs assessment and prioritization in karate. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to design the development model of research axes in the Iranian Karate Federation. Methodology: This study was of the type of qualitative exploratory mixed research projects based on qualitative data method, which was conducted in the form of interviews. The measurement tool was deep and semi-structured interviews. The statistical population of the study includes members of the faculty of physical education who have books and scientific articles in the field of karate; also, the directors and experts of the Karate Federation and expert trainers of the Iranian National Karate Team, who were selected purposefully and using the snowball method. After 20 interviews with experts regarding the research axes, repetition was observed in the components. Then, validity (content), construct validity, reliability (Cronbach's alpha), and factor validity (model fit) were confirmed using the opinions of 2 experts in the field of sports management. The methods of data analysis were done using the basic conceptualization theory method. Also, descriptive statistics methods were performed using SPSS software version 24. Results: The findings showed that from the comparison of the obtained codes, all the resulting codes can be placed in the four main organizational components (12 items), scientific (4 items), infrastructure and equipment (4 items), and research (21 items). Compilation of committee rules, setting up a research journal, and the model of increasing social capital, were respectively the most important open codes in each of the organizational, scientific, infrastructure, equipment and research main components. Conclusion: The results of the current research pointed out the axes and research priorities of karate in the country for proper planning of managers to achieve the desired level of development in this popular sport.
