Abstract
collaborative engagement. Participation involves mobilizing diverse social groups to cooperate and interact in decision-making, information collection, analysis, and plans implementation. Family involvement with the school is a crucial foundation in the current social system, necessitating increased attention. Motivating parents is essential to enhance family participation.
Aim: The research aims to identify the factors that affect parents' motivation to participate in school sport programs.
Methodology: Qualitative research and data analysis were conducted through theme analysis using semi-structured interviews as the research tool. Participants included experts from the office of physical education and the office of the parent-teacher association, as well as professors in the fields of physical education, education sciences, and psychology, parents of students, school principals and assistants, and physical education teachers. The interview process continued until theoretical saturation was achieved. The triangulation method was used to validate the research.
Results: The research findings indicated that family conditions, competencies, attitudes, and interests are factors related to external actions, which contribute to increased motivation for parental participation. Additionally, the categories of curriculum and educational programs, school motivational initiatives, school management and leadership, the role of school activists, and the school environment all play a role in enhancing parental motivation for participation in school sport activities.
Conclusion: The research results provide a clear path for policy makers and school administrators to develop action plans that support, attract, and motivate parents in line with the goals of physical education and school sport. These strategies promote sport activities in schools and contribute to the development of physical education in students.
