Abstract
From birth, children instinctively form relationships with parents, toys, storybooks, or friends. By using observation, inference, modeling, and trial and error, the child finds a better quality of life experience. The process of child development is a multidimensional process that is formed by a combination of genetic, physiological, and environmental factors. In the field of children's development, environmental influences are considered vital factors for optimal growth and development. The home environment is an important factor in children's learning and development. Due to the importance of providing environmental facilities in the field of children's development, this research was conducted to investigate the relationship between providing environment and the quality of life of children. The research method is a post-event correlation method. The statistical population was healthy children aged 8 to 9 years from District 20 of Tehran. 50 male children were selected by purposive sampling. To evaluate the quality of life of children, the Quality of Life Questionnaire for 8 to 12-year-old children (PedsQL) was used, and to evaluate the enabling environment, the Gross Motor Development Enablement Questionnaire (AGMDQ-1) was used. The findings of Pearson's correlation coefficient showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the average scores of the home environment and the quality of life of children (r=0.43, p=0.008), and with the increase of the average scores of the environment, the quality of life in children increases. In general, the results showed that the use of stimuli provided by the family, the physical environment such as kindergarten or schools, and toys can be effective in increasing the quality of life of children. Considering that providing the environment plays an important role in the development of children, it is suggested to pay attention to the living space, and appropriate and standard equipment available to children. Also, the effect of providing an environment on social growth, motor skills, and social skills in different age groups should be investigated.
