Abstract
Background: In the past, the local communities have enjoyed a good boom, as many champions and medalists have come out of neighborhoods sports, but today we see the low participation of local communities in neighborhoods sports. Aim: The purpose of this study was to identify and prioritize the barriers of participation in neighborhoods sports in Isfahan. Methodology: The descriptive research method was applied and it was an analytical type. The statistical population of the study was all citizens of Isfahan city. By using Krejcie and Morgan table, a sample size of 384 people (N= 384) was selected based on convenience sampling. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. Moreover, the face and content validity of the questionnaire were verified by 10 professors. Cronbach's alpha is also conducted to calculate the reliability of the tool and the reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.88. Descriptive statistics (tables, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and second-order factor model) were employed to analyze the data. Results: The results indicated that three types of participation barriers including individual, interpersonal, and infrastructural play an important role in neighborhood sports. The results also revealed that interpersonal barriers were the most important barriers to participation in neighborhood sports, then infrastructure and individual barriers came next. Conclusion: A lively and vibrant city is dependent on the development of local sports, and managers and executive officials have a duty to Identification and operation the way to expand and develop this important thing. It is hoped that the relevant officials will try to solve the existing obstacles for participation in sports in the neighborhoods of Isfahan city, and in this way, an effective step will be taken in the direction of people's participation in sports in the neighborhoods.
