Abstract
Public sports and physical activity are one of the main topics discussed in sports development circles and the result seems to be different developments in each country. The purpose of the current research was the strategy of public sports in the holy city of Mashhad. The current research method was practical in terms of its nature and purpose, and in terms of the descriptive-analytical analysis method and in terms of time, the required data was collected in the field and survey. The statistical population of this research included about 200 sports experts in sports and youth departments and sports department of Mashhad city. The sampling method was non-random and available, and 132 people were selected. The questions of the researcher's questionnaire based on previous studies were addressed in order to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. For this purpose, the SWOT of public sports in the holy city of Mashhad was first determined. In order to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of public sports in the holy city of Mashhad and to examine the current situation, in the list of strengths (S), weaknesses (W), opportunities (O) and threats (T) were extracted. The results of the research showed that the strategic position of public sports in the holy city of Mashhad is such that it has many weaknesses in this field, but environmental threats have a greater impact on sports and its chosen strategies are dominated by wt.
In order to develop a favorable vision for public sports in Mashhad city, with regard to the capacities through sports, preparing and compiling a strategic plan regarding sports that the authorities and those involved in this field pay attention to the capacities of the private sector in sports activities and the expansion of sports venues in the urban space and the balanced distribution of facilities.
