Identification of obstacles to the development of swimming sports in Karaj city

Abstract
Sports, with its various functions and effects, on the one hand, plays a central role in vitality, general vitality and leisure time, mental health, and on the other hand, it has a high contribution to the aspects and areas of urban management based on public participation.
This research was applied in terms of its purpose and in terms of mixed approach, and in terms of its descriptive nature and survey method, it was correlational. The data method was using a questionnaire (swimming development). The statistical population of the research consisted of all athletes, coaches, swimming referees, board officials, managers and supervisors of swimming halls, as well as supporters, who were selected using a non-random sampling method. According to the questionnaire, the number of statistical samples was determined to be 260 subjects. To test the hypotheses, the Kalmogorov Smirnov test was first used to determine whether the data distribution was normal or not. Then, SPSS software was used for inferential analysis of data, for exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and binomial and Friedman test at a significance level of 0.05.
Findings: The findings of the research showed that the development of swimming in Karaj city has an unfavorable situation (p=0.001). Also, all components of the barriers to the development of swimming sport (infrastructural-financial (p=0.001), managerial (p=0.001), equipment (p=0.001), motivational (p=0.001), media (p=0.012), specialized and cultural (p=0.001)) were below 0.05, so it was shown that all the mentioned components have an impact on the barriers to the development of swimming sport from the respondents' point of view, and finally, it was shown that the highest average ranking of the barriers to the development of swimming sport to the cultural component and the lowest rank was related to the media component.
Due to the great importance of background obstacles such as cultural factors in the growth and development of swimming, it is suggested to take a closer look at the root and background obstacles in the development of this sport, because focusing on removing each of these obstacles without considering its impact and impact on other obstacles will lead to its reproduction.
