The joy and excitement that sport has created for its fans around the world and the principles of honor and fair play, emphasize that the "unpredictability" of the results of sports competitions, which is an inherent feature of fairness in competition, should not be violated and should be based on the will and The skill of the athletes and away from any corruption and involvement of corrupt groups should be determined. The phenomenon of "Match-Fixing" is one of the most important threats that easily destroys this feature of sports. During the last two decades, this phenomenon (especially when it is related to betting and gambling) has become a widespread and recurring problem that crosses national borders, various sports disciplines and different levels of competitions, and a wide range of athletes, It has involved coaches, referees and tournament officials. The global acceptance that Match-Fixing as a modern and common manifestation of corruption in sports should be tackled in a comprehensive and coordinated manner by all stakeholders and with the cooperation of governments, international organizations and national and international sports institutions, the necessity of confronting It has doubled with it.
This article, with the method of content analysis, tries to analyze the approach of international sports law and international documents towards the phenomenon of Match-Fixing, to identify and evaluate the rules and guarantees of the governing performances and the necessary background for effective confrontation and struggle. provided with this phenomenon.
The final assessment indicates that despite the seriousness of international sports institutions against Match-Fixing, this phenomenon, from the point of view of international sports law, has a disciplinary nature, and as a disciplinary offense, it faces punishments up to lifetime ban, but since disciplinary punishments alone against all forms of Match-Fixing lack sufficient efficiency and effectiveness, the recommendation of the Macolin Convention and the European Union on the national criminalization of this phenomenon, especially where Match-Fixing with the condition betting, gambling and other international organized crimes are related, it seems necessary.
