The role of communication skills in the success of sports teams: a case study of handball students in the first secondary school of South Khorasan province

Abstract
The purpose of this research is the role of communication skills in the success of sports teams: a case study of handball students in the first secondary level of schools in South Khorasan province. The data and collection of information required for statistical analysis have been used. The statistical population of the present study consists of all ninth grade students of handball in the schools of South Khorasan province, according to the inquiry made by the education departments of South Khorasan province, their number was estimated to be approximately 42.808, and using Morgan's table, the number 384 people were determined and to conduct this research and collect data, available non-random sampling method was used. To collect data from the standard questionnaire for identifying and prioritizing human factors affecting the success of sports teams (standard) and the communication skills questionnaire, Ghasemi (2014) with Cronbach's alpha (0.86) and having 6 components (writing, speaking skills) speaking, listening skill, reading skill, body language skill, skill of using new daily communication tools). To analyze the data and results of this research using SPSS software and descriptive statistics methods such as frequency distribution, determination of frequency percentage, drawing tables and graphs and averages and in inferential statistics from statistical tests (Friedman's test and single-sample t and Pearson's correlation coefficient and regression coefficient) were used. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between the success of sports teams and communication skills. The Pearson coefficient is equal to 0.504, which shows that there is a positive and significant relationship between these two variables. Also, the share of variance is equal to 50%, which shows that communication skills are significantly involved in explaining the changes in the success of sports teams. Therefore, it can be concluded that communication skills in sports teams play an important role in their success. Strong and effective communication within the team and with external factors, players, coaches, managers and even fans, facilitates the improvement of coordination and cooperation in the team and can improve the performance and results of the team.
