Abstract
Sports tourism is a knowledge-based industry that, due to recent advancements in information and communication technologies, allows users to access, share, store, and create knowledge. Emerging businesses in large and developed economies benefit from accessing large domestic consumer markets, developed capital and stock markets. These advantages enable new businesses to experiment with the commercialization of their products or services more easily and receive quick feedback from customers. As a result, their strategies adapt more rapidly. Therefore, the aim of this research was to present a business model for sports tourism with Meta-Synthesis Approach. In this study, a Meta-Synthesis Approach was employed to analyze the results and findings of previous researchers. The Sandelowski and Barroso seven-step method was applied to formulate the conceptual model of the sports tourism business. Scientific databases, including ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis, Google Scholar, ProQuest, Emerald, ResearchGate, and Wiley, were systematically searched for relevant articles and published research. Articles published up to the year 2023 were considered in the search process. The findings of the research showed that the effective factors on sports tourism businesses include innovation, participatory leadership, supportive facilities, communication, understanding the needs of sports tourists, management of sports tourism services, enhancement of sports tourism services, management of attracting sports tourists, economic functions of sports tourism, and entrepreneurial approaches to sports tourism. Based on these factors, it can be concluded that various factors can impact the business model of the sports tourism industry. Considering that developed countries pay significant attention to tourism, especially sports tourism, to achieve economic stability, Iran should strive to emulate successful countries in this field. The development of sports tourism infrastructure requires systematic management and comprehensive planning in all economic, social, cultural, and political dimensions to establish a worthy position in the field of sports tourism development.
