Abstract
Introduction: Schemas are information stored in individuals' memory about a specific topic, and schematic mindset is a state that temporarily dominates a person's psyche. If ineffective, schematic mindsets can lead to maladaptive coping responses, avoidance behaviors, and emotional arousal. On the other hand, resilience is the ability to tolerate and adapt to challenges, reflecting one's organizational and social capabilities in the face of intense work pressures and risk factors. This research aimed to predict the resilience of female athletes based on schematic mindset.
Methods: This study employed a descriptive and correlational research design. The statistical population consisted of female futsal players in Alborz province, who were actively participating in various league levels in clubs (N=500). A sample of 217 individuals was randomly selected. Standard questionnaires for resilience by Connor and Davidson (2003) and schematic mindset by Hamidpour (2021) were used for data collection. The preliminary test on 30 athletes revealed the reliability of the schematic mindset and resilience questionnaires as 0.87 and 0.76, respectively. Statistical inference tests, including nominal factor analysis and regression analysis, were utilized for data analysis using SPSS software.
Findings: The results indicated that schematic mindsets have the predictive ability for the resilience and competence components of female futsal players (P≤0.001).
Conclusion: Schematic mindset can be a significant predictor in the psychological variable of resilience for individuals active in the field of sports. Therefore, understanding athletes' schemas and their schematic mindsets can predict their behavior in training and competition conditions. If necessary, modifying and training schemas and schematic mindsets can contribute to enhancing their performance in sports fields.
