Abstract
Regular and organized sports and physical activities are an effective factor in the development of health and vitality of all sections of the society. The purpose of this research was to investigate sports participation of teenagers based on the theory of planned behavior. The statistical population studied in this research consisted of all the male students of the first and second secondary level of Damghan city (3426 people), of which 234 people were selected by cluster random method and were studied as a sample. Ajzen theory questionnaire (1986) was used to collect data. To determine the formal and content validity of this questionnaire, the opinions of 4 sports management professors were helped. Then, in order to determine the reliability of the questionnaire, a preliminary study was conducted on 30 students of Damghan city, and the results of Cronbach's alpha test showed that the questionnaire has acceptable reliability (attitude = 0.78) (mental forces = 0.75) (behavioral control Comprehension = 0.81) (Intention = 0.82) (Behavior = 0.76) K-S test, Pearson correlation and structural equation modeling method were used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that the attitude and perceived behavioral control of adolescents has a positive and direct effect on their intention to participate in sports activities, but the mental norms of adolescents do not have a significant effect on their intention to participate in sports activities, on the other hand, the perceived behavioral control of adolescents and their behavior for Participation in sports activities does not have a significant effect, if the intention of teenagers has a positive and direct effect on their behavior to participate in sports activities. Finally, according to the values obtained from the fit indices of the model, it has a suitable condition in terms of explanation and fit, and the indices indicate the suitability of the model with the observed data. The conclusion of the present study showed that the planned behavior can reduce the majority of the physical activity of the students. The results of this study suggest that using the theory of planned behavior by focusing on its variables can bring fruitful results
