Abstract
Abstract
The prevalence of overweight and obesity are cardiovascular risk factors that are related to lifestyle variables such as daily activity, type of nutrition, and intake of micronutrients and macronutrients.
The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of eight weeks of yoga practice and cobalamin supplementation on C-troponin T-reactive protein and fat percentage of retired women in Dezful city.
Methodology: In this semi-experimental research, 45 retired women were selected by purposive sampling and randomly divided into 3 groups: exercise and placebo, exercise and supplement, and placebo. After measuring anthropometric variables and blood sampling, fasting Research interventions were done based on grouping. The training protocol was implemented for 8 weeks of yoga exercises in 3 sessions of the week for one hour of training in each session. Cobalamin supplement was also taken 1000 micrograms daily. 48 hours after the last training session, the anthropometric characteristics and blood sampling were measured again in an fasting state, and the obtained data were statistically analyzed using dependent t-tests and covariance analysis. The significance level was considered as p<0.05.
The results showed that there was a significant decrease in body fat percentage (P < 0.01), troponin T (P < 0.01) and C-reactive protein (P < 0.01) in both exercise and supplement groups and exercise and Placebo compared to the placebo group was observed, but no significant difference was observed in the two groups of exercise + supplement and exercise + placebo (P<0.05). According to the results, it can be said that the intervention of yoga exercises reduces the risk of heart diseases in obese retired women by reducing the percentage of body fat and systemic inflammation.
