Abstract
Abstract
Background and purpose: The relationship between music and physiological and psychological changes during exercise and work has always attracted the attention of experts in sports sciences, medicine and psychology. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of music on the performance of plank movement in female students.
Materials and methods: In this applied semi-experimental research, 40 secondary school girls aged 14 to 18 years old with a mean and standard deviation of height of 159.85±5 cm and weight of 52.43±8.99 kg were available. and were chosen voluntarily. The plank movement performance of the subjects was measured on two different days, once with music and once without music, and in order to eliminate the order effect, counterbalancing was done. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to check the normal distribution of the data and the paired samples t-test was used to compare the results.
Results: The results of the paired samples t-test showed that there is a significant difference between the plank movement performance of students in the two modes of playing music and not playing it (t=-6.73, P=0.001). People perform better in the plank movement when they are using music than when they are not using music. Therefore, music has a significant positive effect on the performance of the plank movement.
Conclusion: listening to music while doing physical activity, by increasing the motivation, allows the person to do the activity for a longer time.
