Abstract
Purpose: Paying attention to human cognitive health is an important factor that has always been considered, and one of the important factors that can affect human cognitive dimensions is physical activity, and in this regard, the purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of a period of TRX exercises on executive functions in young men.
Methodology: The current research was semi-experimental research with a pretest-posttest control group design. In this research, 30 young people aged between 20 and 30 years (average 24/33±3/89 years) were selected as available and were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. Subjects had no history of TRX training and other organized sports training. To evaluate executive functions, computerized Wisconsin card sorting and Stroop tests were used to evaluate cognitive flexibility and response inhibition ability respectively. In the pre-test, all subjects participated in the relevant cognitive tests, then, the experimental group performed TRX exercises for eight weeks, three sessions per week and 60 minutes per session. To analyze the data, following the presuppositions of using parametric statistical tests, t-tests and analysis of covariance were used at a significant level (p≤0.05) by spss software.
Results: By comparing the groups and the pre-and post-test, the results showed that performing the TRX exercises has significantly improved cognitive flexibility and response inhibition ability in the experimental group.
Conclusion: According to the results, it can be said that doing TRX exercises can improve cognitive flexibility and the responses inhibition ability in young men and people can use this type of exercises to improve their executive functions.
