Investigating the main barriers to finding talent in sports in schools in Guilan province

Abstract
One of the ways to reach the top of honors in sports is to identify talents. Because progress from elementary levels to becoming an elite in sports is a very long and winding road, which requires talent identification, and identifying and examining obstacles to talent identification is one of the most important needs of education in this topic. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to investigate the main barriers to finding talent in sports in the schools of Guilan province. In terms of practical purpose, the current research was descriptive-survey in terms of data collection method. The statistical population of the research was the sports teachers of Guilan province (860 people) and the random sampling method was (260 people) and the measuring instrument of the questionnaire of barriers to finding talent of Asadi et al. (2016) was used. Therefore, after confirming the measurement tools by the professors and determining their reliability with Cronbach's alpha method (0.87), the data obtained using descriptive and inferential statistics tests (Kolmogorov Smirnov, t-test, Friedman) using SPSS 22 software was used. The findings showed that among the main barriers to finding talent in the schools of Guilan province, the components of financial barriers, human barriers, support barriers, infrastructure barriers, management barriers, process barriers and scientific research barriers respectively accounted for the highest percentage. Therefore, the results show that there are still many obstacles in the discussion of finding talent in schools, that the officials and guardians of sports should take steps in this direction and prioritize the identification of talent, which is the first step in the emergence of elite and talented athletes, in their program. In this way, the province has prominent athletes at higher levels.
