Abstract
Abstract
Background: Due to the stressful conditions and long hours and high volume of work, various aspects of life such as the quality of their sleep have been affected. These conditions in employee jobs cause negative consequences of employee job characteristics. The stated conditions overshadow a wide range of personal, social and physical and psychological characteristics of employees. Inadequate sleep quality affects other physiological functions of the body, such as loss of appetite, feeling tired, lack of concentration, exacerbation of diseases and physical problems. Poor sleep quality or sleepiness causes a decrease in the quality of life, an increase in the risk of mental illnesses and a decrease in daily performance. Studies show that regular physical activity, in addition to physical fitness related to health, reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety, improves mood and manages stress control.
Objective: In this research, the effect of combined exercises in the workplace on the quality of sleep of female employees of Shahrekord University was investigated.
Methodology: The present study is a semi-experimental type and the statistical population consists of 30 people and they were randomly divided into two experimental groups (15 people) and control (15 people). The quality of sleep before and after the exercises was evaluated by the relevant questionnaire. Correlation T-test was used for intra-group comparisons and independent T-test was used for inter-group comparisons at a significance level of 0.05.
Results: The results of the research showed that 12 weeks of combined exercises (aerobic-strength) significantly improved sleep quality (P=0.001) in the experimental group compared to the control group.
Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that combined exercises in the workplace can have a significant effect on the sleep quality of female employees of Shahrekord University. Thus, by performing these combined exercises in the experimental group, the sleep quality of the female employees of Shahrekord University improved.
