Abstract
Introduction: The physical and mental health of housewives has a direct impact on the entire society health. Housewives are always under a lot of mental and physical pressure from the society, husband, children and housework. Therefore, efforts should be made to introduce effective ways to improve mental well-being and control emotions of housewives. The present study investigated the effect of a Hatayoga-based mindfulness course in face-to-face and online methods on the thought control strategies of housewives in Lavasan.
Methods: For this purpose, 38 women’s participants that were purposefully selected and placed in one of the presences (exercise in the gross, n=17), and online (exercise via Skyroom system, n=21) groups. They were housewife, and the age range of the participants was 31 to 52 years. Both groups underwent a Hatayoga-based mindfulness intervention (12 sessions and 2 session per week). The Thought Control Strategies Questionnaire (Wells and Davis) was used in the pre-test and post-test.
Results: The results of analysis of covariance showed that presence group, the effect of this intervention on the subscales of distraction, worry control and social control was significantly higher than the online group. Also, in both groups, the subscales of worry control, social control and total thought control improved significantly.
Conclusions: The present study emphasized the effectiveness of mindfulness interventions in thought control strategies of housewives in face-to-face and online methods. Therefore, we recommend that officials, coaches and sports teachers should strive to provide facilities and grounds for yoga-based mindfulness exercises for improving the thought control of housewives.
