Abstract
Background: Diabetes is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Epidemiological data have clearly shown that diabetes is a major and independent contributor to the risk of cardiovascular disease, and this risk is exacerbated by other factors such as fat, smoking, and blood pressure. Actually diabetes is the most common metabolic disease, leading to several chronic complications, including micro-microvascular complications. Type 2 diabetes is more common between people, unfortunately, its prevalence is increasing with the mechanization of societies.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of endurance training and saffron extract on selection of coagulation factors in men with type 2 diabetes.
Materials and Methods: In this semi experimental study, 24 patients aged 40 to 50 years Selected and randomly divided into 4 groups: control, endurance training, saffron extract and endurance training-saffron extract. The experimental group program includes eight weeks of endurance training with an intensity of 65-55% of VO2 peak, 3 days a week for 75 minutes per session. Data were analyzed byOne-way ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc test at the P<0.05.
Results: The results showed that 6-weeks endurance training and consumption of saffron extract reduced the level of PAI-1 and fibrinogen levels in endurance training, saffron extract and training -saffron extract group compared to control group (p<0.05). Also, the level of PAI-1 and fibrinogen in men with type 2 diabetes in post-test the compared to the pre-test was reduced significantly in the endurance training, saffron extract and training -saffron extract group (p<0.05).
Conclusion: According to the results, endurance training and saffron extract may be effective in reducing the levels of PAI-1 and fibrinogen in improving the condition of the coagulation system in people with diabetes.
