Abstract
Promoting health behaviors in teachers can have important effects as a behavioral model in promoting health behaviors in all societies. Therefore, this research was conducted to investigate the role of physical activities in the health behaviors of high school teachers in Tehran, Iran. Correlational method was used for this research. The statistical population included all male and female high school teachers in Tehran, Iran (431 people). The sample size according to Morgan and Krejcie table was 197 people and the sampling method was stratified random. The research data collection tool was a questionnaire. The amount of physical activity was measured with the short form of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire of the World Health Organization and in order to measure health behaviors, the Health Promoting Behaviors Questionnaire (HPLP-II) was used. To analyze the research data, descriptive statistics including mean and standard deviation were used and to test the research hypotheses, the Smirnov Kolmograph test was used to determine the normal distribution of data, Pearson correlation test and regression using SPSS software. The coefficient of determination showed that 57.9% of the variance of variable health behaviors is predicted by physical activity and has a positive effect on it. There was a direct and statistically significant correlation between physical activity with health responsibility, with physical activity, with healthy nutrition, with spiritual growth, with stress management and with interpersonal relationships (P <0.05). Therefore, in order to increase the health behaviors among teachers, intervention and incremental programs should be implemented to increase physical activities in this population.
